This page is an ever growing collection of resources we personally use, have learned from, trust, or believe may support people walking toward greater clarity, capability, stewardship, and sovereignty.

Misfits Market

Misfits Market is an online grocery delivery option for produce, pantry staples, meat, seafood, dairy, and household items.

I used them when we first went off-grid, and it was helpful for getting groceries delivered when regular store runs were harder.

Best for: grocery delivery, pantry staples, rural living, food access, and fewer trips to town.

Polyface Farm

Polyface Farm is a go-to for regenerative farming, real food, and land stewardship. Joel Salatin, the self-proclaimed “Lunatic Farmer”, has shaped how I think about soil, animals, and community.

They offer pastured meats, books, tours, apprenticeships, and hands-on education rooted in transparency and mobile grass-based systems.

Best for: regenerative inspiration, farm education, Joel Salatin books, and seeing how it all connects.

Note: I do not currently buy meat from Polyface because shipping is high for my location, but I have nearly all of Joel's books, education, and regenerative farming philosophy.

Weston A. Price Foundation

The Weston A. Price Foundation is a resource for traditional food wisdom, nutrient-dense eating, raw milk education, food freedom, and ancestral nourishment.

Their work helped shape the way I think about real food, proper preparation, healthy fats, raw dairy, meat stock, organ meats, minerals, and feeding families in a way that supports strong bodies and future generations.

MAP, Wellness & Wholistic Support

The MAP Coaching Institute is where I trained and certified as MAP Practitioner #363. A trusted source for holistic goat care, minerals, and practical education. I personally use their Mineral Buffet system and value Megan’s real-world approach.

Horizontal Hive

Horizontal Hive is a natural beekeeping resource focused on keeping bees in a way that works more with their nature and less against it. I am not affiliated, but I have personally bought books, we use the insulated Layens 20 frame hive w/ 4th door, and the swarm trap from Dr. Leo.

They offer horizontal hives, swarm traps, books, free hive plans, live and online courses, and loads of natural beekeeping education. Dr. Leo Sharashkin also has many helpful videos, including a 40 video playlist on the YouTube channel Off-Grid with Doug & Stacy, for folks wanting a natural bee-centered approach.

Best for: natural beekeeping, horizontal hives, FREE PLANS, swarm trapping, bee-centered education, and learning a lower-intervention approach to keeping bees.

Premier 1 Supplies

Premier 1 Supplies is a practical farm and livestock supply resource for fencing, electric netting, poultry supplies, sheep and goat equipment, clippers, ear tags, feeders, waterers, and other homestead tools.

I have not personally had great success with their electric netting in my lush forest setup, but I do know it works well for many people, animals, and land situations. It would be especially useful in clearer, more open land situations.

Best for: portable fencing, rotational grazing supplies, poultry gear, sheep and goat equipment, and practical farm tools..

Humanure Handbook

The Humanure Handbook is one of the most practical resources I know of for understanding humanure composting, compost toilets, waterless sanitation, nutrient cycling, and turning what most people call “waste” back into soil fertility.

We personally practice humanure composting and have both The Humanure Handbook and The Compost Toilet Handbook in our home library.

Joseph Jenkins’ work is especially valuable for off-grid living, low-input homesteads, water conservation, resilience, soil building, and anyone wanting to understand sanitation outside the standard flush-it-away mindset.

ThriftBooks

ThriftBooks is one of my favorite places to find affordable used books, and I have bought a large part of my personal and the Sanctuary's library there. It is especially helpful when you are building a shelf full of homesteading, herbal, alternative health, law dictionaries and manuals, faith, food, leadership, and community-building books without paying out the wazoo.

(I typically go 5-7$ max per book. Plus you get points towards FREE BOOKS every book you buy...📚💚🤠

NO "Acceptable" for me, they tend to have pre-markings.)
